100 Years of UPSC
Updated: Oct 8

UPSC is the one institution that has enabled many individuals like me, who come from humble backgrounds, to climb the ladder to a higher status and rank. It is an institution that many pray to as if it were nothing less than a temple.
The UPSC has been able to hold its head high by remaining one of the most respected institutions in India—keeping a low profile and yet delivering exam after exam without any faults. Unlike various State Public Service Commissions, the UPSC has remained stain-free, keeping itself far away from potential temptations.
For me, the UPSC is the only living temple I believed in as a youngster. I believed that my hard work and dedication would be rewarded, and it happened not once, but twice. I cleared the 1998 Indian Engineering Services Exam as well as the 2000 Indian Civil Services Exam.
As the UPSC reaches its 100-year milestone, it stands not just as an institution, but as a heritage. We must preserve its reputation and respect. We need to keep it as pristine as possible and transform it into the most valuable asset of our democracy. May many more meritorious citizens of our country realise their dreams through this great institution.
